Eugene Nesterenko in "Helikon-Opera"
A unique event happened in "Helikon-Opera" theatre on the 23rd December, People's Artist of USSR, professor, world famous opera celebrity and "star of basses" Eugene Nesterenko was a guest of Prince Orlovsky's ball. After leaving Bolshoi theatre he lives in Vienna, doesn't often visit Russia and practically doesn't sing here. On the 23rd December Eugene Nesterenko visited "Helikon-Opera" and performed aria of Don Basilio from "Il barbiere di Siviglia" by G. Rossini.

"Students to teachers" concert took place in "Helikon-Opera" on the7th November. By this concert soloists of our theatre decided to pay debts to their vocal coaches. The idea of Dmitry Bertman to make such concerts every year found the response among soloists and spectators.

Bravo, Alexey!
"Helikon-Opera" soloist Alexey Tikhomirov gained a glorious victory in Galina Vishnevskaya's First International Contest of opera artists. The solemn ceremony and gala-concert was held on 24th October in Moscow International House of Music just before the celebration of 80th anniversary of great Galina Vishnevskaya. The final Tikhomirov's performing of King Phillip part from "Don Carlos" by G. Verdi and Mephistopheles couplets from "Faust" by Ch. Gounod were met with loud ovation.

On the 3rd September in Vasilyevski spusk of Moscow the concert of "Helikon-Opera" was held in the frames of the Day of Solidarity in Struggle against Terrorism. Soloists, choir and orchestra performed the works of G. Verdi, M. Glinka, S. Rakhmaninov, S. Prokofiev, A. Borodin. Conductor - People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Ponkin. The soloists were Honoured Artist of Russia Larisa Kostiuk, Vadim Zaplechny, Igor Tarasov, as well as Ksenia Viaznikova and Svetlana Sozdateleva.

The Government of Moscow and The Committe of Culture of Moscow presents gala-concert in the frames of International day of Fighting against Terrorism. From the 14th till 18th August "Helikon-Opera" was touring in Tallinn. Performances "La Clemenza di Tito" and "Apollo et Hyacinthus" by W. A. Mozart, and "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk district" by D. "Siberia" in Bartok + Verismo festival
