The 22nd birthday of “Helikon-opera” theatre
On the 10th of April “Helikon-opera” celebrated its 20th birthday. The devoted spectators came to congratulate their favorite theatre. Among them were representative of business circles, diplomats, journalists, public and cultural figures: Irina Maslennikova, Yuri Vedeneev, Emmanuil Vitorgan Igor Kostolevsky, Mikhail Filippov, Varvara, Mar’ana Shults, Svetlana Sorokina and many others.
Before the beginning of a festive programme the Atristic Director of “Helikon-opera” theatre warmly greeted the audience: ‘I’d like to thank everyone who came here today, because only the friends gathered in this hall today; all who helped us, were with us in joy and in our misfortune, and all who will come with us – I hope very soon – to a new stage of our theatre on Nikitskaya. We are waiting for all these years. We work hard, play and sing, and I think we can hope for happiness, when our singing could be heard’. Some time before the birthday it was noticed that the number 22 is similar to the two bass keys. This gave the idea to draw up a programme of the concert exclusively from parts of bass repertoire. ‘Helikon’ assembled the unique collection of voices, that constantly updated, and which the theatre is justly proud of. And the basses have its special place in it.
On the 10th of April eight basses of the theatre, completely different, diverse, charismatic, handsome, memorable such as Mikhail Guzhov, Alexey Dedov, Vladimir Kovarsky, Alexandr Miminoshvili, Dmitry Ovchinnikov, Dmitry Skorikov, AlexeyTikhomirov and Stanislav Shvets came on the stage of ‘Helikon’. The programme of bass concert consisted of well-known musical compositions of Russian and world opera repertoire. They were performed in a truly ‘Helikon' manner, which followed by Nimerovich-Danchenko’s precept, and meant to be a mirror of life, and not to stand in the way of enjoying the music. The stage became a place of all that worried the theatre today. The first one is reconstruction of the building on Nikitskaya. The performance of Ksenia Vyaznikova was fabulous. She rehashed potpourri of bass parts of her male colleagues, and showed perfect vocal skills. The Art Director of the festive concert is Dmitry Bertman. The director of the festive concert is Ilya Ilyin. The conductor is Vladimir Ponkin. The artists of the choir and the orchestra take part in the concert.
